The South African Spring Open (The Spring Open) is a premier tennis event that showcases the best of South Africa’s tennis aces competing against both their continental and international counterparts.
The tournament is endorsed by the National Association, Tennis South Africa (TSA) and sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
The Spring Open is a first of its kind in Africa, comprising of a Wheelchair Tennis ITF Grade 2 tournament and an able-bodied ITF $15,000 Transitional Tour tournament - for both men and women. Over 160 participants, from across the world, participate in the action.
The tournament is held at the iconic Ellis Park Tennis Precinct, Johannesburg. This “old lady” of South African tennis boasts 17 hard courts which showcase some 200 matches during the Spring Open.
Prize-money is be awarded in the following categories:
Able-bodied:
$15,000
Men’s Division (Singles & Doubles)

Women’s Division (Singles & Doubles)
Wheelchair Tennis:
$22,000
Men’s Division (Singles & Doubles)
Women’s Division (Singles and Doubles)
Quads’ Division (Singles and Doubles)
All players receive gift packs in recognition of their participation in the tournament .
